DEFINITION:
Under the general direction of the site Administrator(s), the Secondary Teacher serves as the primary classroom instructor for students in a departmentalized setting. The Secondary Teacher works collaboratively with other classroom teachers and support staff and uses a variety of current research-based teaching strategies designed to meet the needs of all students. The Secondary Teacher participates in on-going staff development to ensure delivery of the most effective research-based instruction. The Secondary Teacher accepts responsibility for the learning of all students assigned to them utilizing a variety of assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and?in harmony with the goals?establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others including the utilization of parents as career resource consultants.
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Participates as a team member to develop and implement plans, including but not limited to IEP', 504 plans, and Behavior Support Plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Adopted learning standards
Best practices in providing reading and writing instruction to students
Current research-based practices to improve student achievement and accelerate learning
Data analysis and implications for program development
Ability to:
Establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with others.
Analyze and interpret assessment results for the purpose of designing and modifying instruction aligned to the Common Core State Standards.
Use and share a variety of instructional strategies; apply knowledge of methods of supporting and extending instruction.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the academic vocabulary necessary for grades TK-12.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, colleagues, and all members of the educational community.
Experience/Education/Certification:
Valid CLEAR California teaching credential ? single subject (including CLAD certification or equivalent);
Overall evaluations satisfactory or better in all areas.
Desirable:
Willingness to continue to seek professional development and apply new learning by providing professional development to all employees.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must regularly lift 10-15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 20-40 pounds.

However, as part of your employment in the District, you will be required to obtain an English Learner Authorization on your credential by February first of your second year of employment. While in the process of obtaining the English Learner Authorization, you must hold an emergency English Learner Authorization.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
