Design Engineer

We are looking for a Design Engineer responsible for creating and developing Home product designs.
This hands-on engineer is responsible for modeling and engineering designs to turn product ideas into functional prototypes that meet the design criteria and manufacturing requirements.
The duties include researching ideas, creating 3D models, developing 2D drawings and running design validation tests to complete the new product design and development cycle.
This engineer will work with the rest of the design, manufacturing, and marketing team, and will be involved in frequent internal and external collaboration in all stages of the cycle.

Experience in the areas of product design for prefab construction materials, modular products and furniture, and manufactured homes is required.
Job Expectations:
Create design concepts in 3D models and detail the designs into production CAD drawings.
Define all design parameters, specifications, and assembly instructions on assembly drawings for manufacturing.
Research and ensure designs are engineered to meet all building codes and regulation requirements.
Convert design concepts into functional prototypes and perform design validation, testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
Perform research on technologies and products for implementation into design concepts.
Determine whether a design solution is user friend, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly Make improvements to the design and performance of existing products.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure efficient communication and productive collaboration in the design and development cycle.
Deliver good results in accomplishing goals, assignments, and task deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong concept creation and development skills for prefab and modular home designs.
Skillful in 3D modeling, and proficient in one of the following 3D modeling software:
Solid Works, AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketchup, etc.
Skillful in 2D drawing software and proficient in defining product specifications and assembly instructions.
Ability to read and comprehend architectural drawings and building construction documents.
Effective problem-solver with strong decision-making skills.
Understanding of the IBC, CBC, and county of Los Angeles codes for residential homes is a plus Understanding of generally accepted construction practices for incorporation into the design is a plus Familiarity with Eco-friendly and sustainable materials and products is a plus.
Experience with CNC programming and operation is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at a time.
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent is required.
Minimum 5 years of product design engineering experience in the prefab, modular home, manufacturer homes, ADU or furniture industries.
